Constellation Energy Secures $1 Billion Loan Guarantee from DOE for Nuclear Plant Restart
Summary
On November 17, 2025, Constellation Energy Generation, LLC entered into a Loan Guarantee Agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for a $1 billion loan to support the restart and repowering of the Christopher M. Crane Clean Energy Center, an 835 MW nuclear generating station in Pennsylvania. The DOE will guarantee the obligations of Constellation under the loan, which is expected to help power the digital economy, restore reliable nuclear energy to the grid, and create thousands of jobs. Advances may be requested under the Facility on a quarterly basis until the loan reaches a balance of $1 billion or until September 15, 2030. The loan will be used to reimburse Constellation for certain eligible project costs relating to restoration, maintenance, repair, inspection, qualification, and licensing of the Plant.
