announced a joint venture with JERA Co., Inc. and Mitsui & Co., Inc. to construct, produce, and offtake low-carbon ammonia at CF Industries' Blue Point Complex in Louisiana. The joint venture will create the world's largest low-carbon ammonia production facility with an annual capacity of 1.4 million metric tons. CF Industries will hold a 40% ownership stake, JERA 35%, and Mitsui 25%. The production facility, estimated to cost around $4 billion, is expected to start operations in 2029. CF Industries will manage the operations and maintenance of the facility. Additionally, CF Industries will invest $550 million in infrastructure to support the joint venture. The facility is designed to capture and sequester approximately 2.3 million metric tons of CO2 annually, qualifying for tax credits under Section 45Q of the Internal Revenue Code.
