Chipotle Announces CEO Transition: Niccol to Starbucks, Boatwright Named Interim CEO
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. announced on August 12, 2024, that Brian Niccol, its CEO and Chairman, will leave the company on August 31, 2024, to become the Chairman and CEO of Starbucks. Scott Boatwright, currently Chipotle's Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed as Interim CEO, effective immediately. Additionally, Jack Hartung, who was set to retire in 2025, will remain with the company indefinitely as President of Strategy, Finance & Supply Chain to aid in the transition. Scott Maw, Lead Independent Director, has been named Chairman of the Board, also effective immediately. These changes were disclosed in a press release furnished as Exhibit 99.1 to the 8-K filing under Regulation FD.
