Details
Under the agreement, Capital One had been the exclusive issuer of Walmart's private label and co-branded credit card program in the U.S. Capital One will retain ownership and servicing of the existing credit card portfolio, which amounts to approximately $8.5 billion in loans. The agreement's termination also ended the revenue sharing and loss sharing arrangements. For the first quarter of 2024, if the loss sharing arrangement had not been in place, the Domestic Card net charge-off rate would have been approximately 45 basis points higher, and the allowance for credit losses would have been approximately $850 million higher. Similarly, if the revenue sharing arrangement had not been in place, the Domestic Card revenue margin would have been approximately 45 basis points higher. A joint press release by Capital One and Walmart is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Form 8-K.
