Cytokinetics Announces Positive FOREST-HCM Data at ACC Scientific Session
Summary
On April 5, 2024, Cytokinetics, Incorporated announced additional 48-week data from FOREST-HCM, an open-label extension clinical study of aficamten in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), at the 73rd Annual American College of Cardiology (ACC) Scientific Session. The updated data set focused on 46 patients who had completed 48 weeks of follow-up. Treatment with aficamten resulted in substantial reductions in left ventricle outflow tract gradient (LVOT-G) and improvements in symptoms and cardiac biomarkers. Notably, 75% of patients were receiving the 15 mg or 20 mg dose of aficamten, with statistically significant improvements observed in NYHA Functional Class and NT-proBNP levels. There were also significant improvements in cardiac structure and function, including decreases in maximum wall thickness and left atrial volume index. The treatment was well-tolerated with no treatment-related serious adverse events. However, there was a modest reduction in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) from baseline to Week 48.
