IBM Transfers $6 Billion Pension Obligations to Prudential
Summary
On September 5, 2024, IBM entered into an agreement with State Street Global Advisors Trust Company to transfer approximately $6 billion of its defined benefit pension obligations to Prudential. The transaction, which closed on September 11, 2024, involves a nonparticipating single premium group annuity contract and will result in no changes to the benefits payable to approximately 32,000 pension plan participants.
