MetLife Reinsurance Agreement with Talcott
On April 30, 2025, MetLife, Inc. announced via Regulation FD a reinsurance agreement with Talcott Resolution Life Insurance Company to reinsure approximately $10 billion of U.S. retail variable annuity and rider reserves. The transaction, which is expected to close in the second half of 2025, will reduce MetLife's enterprise risk and lower its retail variable annuity tail risk by approximately 40%. The deal is aligned with MetLife's New Frontier strategic priorities and is expected to positively impact the company's financial position.
