Nvidia Corporation
US Government Announces License Requirement for Certain NVIDIA Products Exports to China and D:5 Countries
Summary
On April 9, 2025, the U.S. government informed NVIDIA Corporation that a license is required for the export of its H20 integrated circuits and other circuits achieving the H20's performance metrics to China (including Hong Kong and Macau) and D:5 countries, or entities based therein. This requirement is intended to address the risk of these products being used in, or diverted to, a supercomputer in China. The license requirement is expected to remain in effect indefinitely and will result in approximately $5.5 billion of charges for NVIDIA in its first quarter of fiscal year 2026, which ends on April 27, 2025. These charges are related to inventory, purchase commitments, and related reserves for the affected products.
