NXP and VIS Announce Joint Venture for 300mm Fab in Singapore
NXP Semiconductors N.V. and Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation (VIS) have announced the creation of a joint venture, VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Pte Ltd, to build and operate a new 300mm semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility in Singapore. The joint venture, set to begin construction in the second half of 2024, aims for initial production in 2027. VIS will contribute $2.4 billion for a 60% equity stake, while NXP will contribute $1.6 billion for a 40% equity stake. Additional funding of $1.9 billion will support long-term capacity infrastructure. The facility will target automotive, industrial, consumer, and mobile markets, aiming for an output of 55,000 wafers per month by 2029 and creating approximately 1,500 jobs.
