Workday CEO Transition: Aneel Bhusri Returns as CEO

Workday, Inc. announced on February 6, 2026, that Aneel Bhusri, its co-founder and Executive Chair, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Bhusri will continue to serve as the Chair of the Board. Carl Eschenbach, who has been the CEO, will step down but remain as a strategic advisor to Bhusri. Bhusri has a long history with Workday, having previously served as CEO and Co-CEO, and has a significant equity stake in the company. Eschenbach, under whose leadership Workday expanded globally and improved operational discipline, will receive a separation agreement package that includes cash severance, continuation of COBRA coverage, and accelerated vesting of stock awards. The company expects its fiscal 2026 fourth quarter and full-year financial results to be in line with prior guidance.
