- Creation date
- Status (Active/Paused)
- Count of times triggered (last 30 days)
Sort options:
- By name (alphabetical)
- By creation date (newest first)
- By trigger frequency (most active first)
Editing an Alert
To modify an alert:
- Find alert in list
- Click "Edit" button
- Alert Builder opens with current settings
- Change any filters or notification preferences
- Click "Save Changes"
Common edits:
- Adjusting dollar thresholds
- Adding/removing watchlist scope

Pausing vs. Deleting

Delete an alert:

Notification Preferences
Delivery Methods
Email (Immediate):
- Get email within 5 minutes of event
- Best for: Critical alerts you need to act on quickly
- Risk: Inbox overload if too many alerts
Email (Daily Digest):
- One email per day at 8am with all triggered alerts
- Best for: Important but not urgent monitoring
- Cleaner inbox, less interruption
In-App Notification:
- Bell icon shows unread notifications
- Only see when you visit platform
- Best for: Supplementary awareness, not primary alert method
Push Notification (Mobile):
- Phone notification appears instantly
- Best for: Alerts requiring immediate awareness
- Control: Can set quiet hours in phone settings
SMS (Pro Only):
- Text message to your phone
- Best for: Highest-priority alerts only (limited monthly quota)
- Use sparingly to avoid alert fatigue
Setting Quiet Hours
In Alert Settings:
- Set hours when alerts are suppressed (e.g., 10pm - 7am)
- Alerts still tracked, just not delivered during quiet period
- Receive summary in morning of overnight alerts
Use case: Don't want to be woken by market-moving events you can't act on pre-market.
Frequency Limits
Avoid alert fatigue:
- Set max alerts per day per subscription (e.g., max 5)
- After limit, alerts batch until next day
- Prevents inbox explosion during high-volume periods
Example: You set "Alert max 3 times/day". On a crazy news day, 10 events match your criteria. You get first 3 immediately, then summary at end of day: "7 additional events matched your alert."
Alert Activity Feed
Understanding the Feed
Shows recent triggered alerts: Each entry displays:
- Which alert triggered
- What event caused it (8-K, Form 4, score change)
- When it triggered (timestamp)
- Link to full event details
Sort options:
- Chronological (default)
- By alert subscription (group same alerts)
Taking Action from Feed
Click any triggered alert to:
- View full details of the underlying event
- Read AI summary (for 8-Ks)
- See Form 4 details (for insider trades)
- Check opportunity score details
- Add company to watchlist
- Set up new alert based on this event
Workflow: Alert notifies you → Check feed → Investigate event → Take trading action
Feed keeps 30 days of history so you can review past alerts and outcomes.
Advanced Alert Strategies
Strategy 1: Layered Alerts
Create multiple alert tiers:
Tier 1 (Ultra Priority):
- $1M+ officer buys
- High-impact M&A 8-Ks
- Score jumps >20 points
- Notification: SMS + Email
Tier 2 (Important):
- $500K+ any insider buys
- Medium/High impact 8-Ks on watchlist
- Score >75 on watchlist
- Notification: Email immediate
Tier 3 (Awareness):
- Any insider activity on holdings
- All 8-Ks on watchlist
- Score changes on watchlist
- Notification: Email daily digest
Result: Appropriate urgency for different signal strengths.
Strategy 2: Watchlist-Specific Alerts
Match alerts to watchlist purpose:
"Active Positions" watchlist:
- Alert on ANY insider activity (want to know everything)
- Alert on ANY 8-K (risk management)
"Research Queue" watchlist:
- Alert only on High-impact 8-Ks (confirmation to buy)
- Alert only on officer buying >$250K (insider validation)
"Long-Term Holds" watchlist:
- Alert only on CEO changes or major M&A (structural changes)
- No alerts for routine activity
Different monitoring intensity for different lists.
Strategy 3: Threshold Progression
Adjust thresholds over time:
Month 1: Set high thresholds ($1M+) to learn what's truly meaningful
Month 2: Lower to $500K now that you understand context better
Month 3: Create segmented alerts - 250K-$1M digest
Goal: Find your personal signal-to-noise sweet spot.
Strategy 4: Conditional Combinations
Use "Combined" alert type for sophisticated signals:
Setup:
- Trigger: 8-K filed (any impact)
- AND: Insider buying within next 5 days
- For: Any company
What this catches: Events where insiders put money to work AFTER the public announcement - strong validation
Another example:
- Score drops below 40 (opportunity fades)
- AND: Insider selling >$500K
- For: "Active Positions" watchlist
- Exit signal - both score and insiders turning negative

Common Questions
Q: How many alerts can I create?
A: Free users: up to 5 alerts. Pro subscribers: unlimited alerts.
Q: How quickly are alerts delivered?
A: Email/push: typically within 5-10 minutes of event filing with SEC. In-app: real-time.
Q: Can I temporarily disable all alerts?
A: Yes. In Alert Settings, toggle "Pause All Alerts" - everything stops until you re-enable.
Q: What if I'm getting too many alerts?
A: Increase thresholds (e.g., 1M), add filters (e.g., officers only), or switch to daily digest delivery.
Q: Do alerts trigger after hours and weekends?
A: Yes, SEC filings can occur 24/7. Enable quiet hours if you don't want late-night notifications.
Q: Can I test an alert before it goes live?
A: Not directly, but you can create it, then view Activity Feed to see what would have triggered in past 30 days based on your criteria.
Q: What's the difference between an alert and the Daily Digest?
A: Alerts are customizable, filtered, real-time notifications. Daily Digest is a comprehensive morning summary of ALL activity regardless of filters.
Pro Tips
Tip 1: Start Conservative, Then Expand
Week 1: Set only ultra-high-priority alerts ($1M+ trades, High-impact 8-Ks only)
Learn what's actionable without noise.
Week 2+: Add secondary alerts as you understand signal quality
Result: You build confidence without alert fatigue.
Tip 2: Name Alerts Descriptively
Include:
- What type (Insider/8-K/Score)
- Key filter (Buys, High-Impact, >$500K)
- Scope (Watchlist name or "All")
Example names:
- "Insider Buys >$1M - All Stocks"
- "High Impact 8-Ks - Tech Watchlist"
- "Score Spike >15pts - Active Positions"
In 3 months you'll still know what each alert does.
Tip 3: Review Triggered Alerts Weekly
Every Sunday:
- Review past week's triggered alerts
- Check: Were any false positives?
- Check: Did you miss alerts that should exist?
- Adjust: Refine filters based on learnings
Continuous improvement of your alert setup.
Tip 4: Match Delivery to Urgency
SMS: Only for alerts requiring immediate action (rare) Push: Important signals you'll act on that day Email Immediate: Important but can wait an hour Email Digest: Awareness but not time-sensitive In-app only: Nice to know, will check when I log in
Don't use same delivery method for everything.
Tip 5: Seasonal Alert Adjustments
Q4: Add alerts for tax-loss selling patterns January: Add alerts for post-rebound setups Earnings season: Add earnings-specific 8-K alerts Summer: Reduce alert sensitivity (lower volume period)
Your alerting strategy should adapt to market calendar.
