Understanding the Dashboard
Educational Resource: This guide explains how to interpret features in Profitelligence. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Dashboard Overview
The Opportunities Dashboard is your mission control for finding high-potential trading setups. It surfaces stocks showing the strongest statistical patterns right now, ranked by historical correlation strength and reliability.
Think of it as a dynamic research report that updates throughout the day as new SEC filings hit EDGAR, insiders report trades, or price patterns trigger new signals.
Dashboard Anatomy
The dashboard has four main sections:
- Page Header - Title, description, refresh controls
- Summary Statistics - High-level overview cards
- Top Opportunities - Highlighted best setups
- All Opportunities Table - Complete ranked list
Let's explore each section in detail.
Page Header
Dashboard Title
"Opportunities Dashboard" with tagline: "Discover high-potential stocks through data-driven insights"
This reminds you what you're looking at and what the page does.
Refresh Button
Located in the top-right corner. Click to pull the latest data from our analytics engine.
When to refresh:
- First thing in the morning
- After major market events
- Mid-afternoon to catch new filings
- When you notice stale timestamps
Loading indicator: The button shows a spinner while fetching new data.
Last Updated Timestamp
Shows when the data was last refreshed. Example: "Updated 2 hours ago"
Important: If data is more than 4 hours old during market hours, click refresh to get current patterns.
Summary Statistics Cards
Three cards provide at-a-glance metrics:
Total Opportunities Card
What it shows: Current count of stocks with statistically significant patterns
Icon: Bar chart icon
Example: "127" opportunities
What this means: 127 stocks currently meet our quality thresholds:
- Minimum correlation ≥0.3
- Sample size ≥30 tests
- Statistical significance p<0.05
How to use it:
- If the number is very high (200+), consider filtering to focus on top scores
- If very low (<50), market conditions may be choppy with fewer clear patterns
- Track changes day-to-day to gauge market conditions
Average Score Card
What it shows: Mean overall score across all current opportunities
Icon: Star icon
Example: "62"
What this means: The average opportunity score is 62, indicating moderate-to-strong market patterns overall.
How to interpret:
- Average >70: Very strong market environment, many high-quality setups
- Average 50-70: Normal conditions, good opportunities available
- Average <50: Weaker patterns, be more selective
Trading context: When the average score is high, you have more options. When low, focus only on the highest-scoring setups.
Favorites Card
What it shows: Count of stocks you've starred for tracking
Icon: Heart icon
Example: "12"
What this means: You have 12 stocks bookmarked in your watchlist.
How to use it:
- Build a focused watchlist of 10-15 stocks you know well
- Check favorites daily for score changes
- Use this as your "quick check" before diving into the full list
Top Opportunities Section
Three large cards highlighting the highest-scoring opportunities right now.
Card Layout
Each card shows:
Header:
- Company logo (visual recognition)
- Ticker symbol (bold, prominent)
- Company name (smaller, gray text)
- Star icon (click to favorite)
Score Display:
- "Overall Score" label
- Score number (large, color-coded by direction)
- Visual progress bar (fills based on score %)
Strategy Info:
- "Top Strategy" label
- Strategy name (e.g., "Momentum Bullish")
- Direction badge (Bullish/Bearish/Neutral pill)
Color Coding
Bullish opportunities:
- Blue/primary color scheme
- Blue border on hover
- Blue progress bar
Bearish opportunities:
- Red/secondary color scheme
- Red border on hover
- Red progress bar
Neutral opportunities:
- Gray/tertiary color scheme
- Gray border on hover
- Gray progress bar
Interaction
Click anywhere on the card to open the detailed opportunity panel.
Click the star icon to add/remove from favorites (stops event propagation - won't open detail panel).
Hover effect: Card elevates with shadow to indicate clickability.
All Opportunities Table
The heart of the dashboard - a sortable, filterable table of all current opportunities.
Table Columns
Ticker & Company
What you see: Company logo, ticker symbol, full company name
Why it matters: Quick visual recognition of stocks you know
Tip: Familiar with certain sectors? Scan ticker column for companies you've researched before
Sector
What you see: Industry classification (e.g., "Technology", "Healthcare", "Financial")
Why it matters: Sector trends often move together. If you see multiple opportunities in one sector, that sector may be showing strong patterns.
Tip: Group mental notes by sector. "Three healthcare opportunities today" suggests sector-wide patterns.
Overall Score
What you see: Number from 0-100
Color coding:
- High scores (70+): Darker, bolder colors
- Moderate (50-69): Standard weight
- Lower (<50): Lighter colors
Why it matters: Your primary sorting metric for pattern strength
How to use it: Focus on scores ≥70 for highest-quality setups
Confidence
What you see: Number from 0-100
Why it matters: Tells you how well-tested this pattern is
Critical insight: A score of 75 with confidence 85 beats a score of 85 with confidence 40
How to use it: Set a minimum confidence threshold (e.g., ≥60) and ignore patterns below it
Direction
What you see: Badge with "BULLISH", "BEARISH", or "NEUTRAL"
Color coding:
- Bullish: Blue background
- Bearish: Red background
- Neutral: Gray background
Why it matters: Instantly see if this is a long opportunity, short opportunity, or unclear
How to use it: Filter mentally - if you only trade long, focus on bullish signals
Top Strategy
What you see: Name of the primary pattern driving the score
Common strategies:
- Insider Buying
- Momentum Bullish/Bearish
- Mean Reversion
- Volatility Breakout
- Valuation Gap
Why it matters: Understand what type of opportunity this is before diving deeper
How to use it: If you specialize in certain patterns (e.g., insider trading), scan this column for matches
Favorite Star
What you see: Outlined star (not favorited) or filled star (favorited)
Click behavior: Toggle favorite status
Why it matters: Build a focused watchlist of stocks you're actively tracking
How to use it: Star anything you want to research later or monitor daily
Sorting the Table
Click any column header to sort by that metric.
Click again to reverse the sort direction (ascending ↔ descending).
Default sort: Overall Score (highest to lowest)
Common sorting patterns:
Sort by Overall Score (descending) → Find the strongest patterns Sort by Confidence (descending) → Find the most reliable patterns Sort by Ticker (ascending) → Alphabetical for quick lookup Sort by Sector (ascending) → Group similar industries together
Visual indicator: Active sort column shows an arrow (↑ or ↓)
Table Interactions
Click any row to open the opportunity detail panel
Hover over a row to see a highlight (indicates clickability)
Click the star to favorite (doesn't open detail panel)
Responsive design: On mobile, table columns collapse to show most important metrics only
Reading the Dashboard Efficiently
The 30-Second Scan
- Check summary cards - How many opportunities? What's the average score?
- Scan top 3 cards - Any familiar tickers? Any extreme scores (>85)?
- Glance at table - Sort by score, look at top 5-10 rows
- Note your favorites - Any favorites showing new high scores?
Output: You now know if there are compelling opportunities worth deeper research.
The 5-Minute Analysis
- Sort by Overall Score descending
- Mentally filter for scores ≥70 AND confidence ≥60
- Read the Top Strategy for qualifying opportunities
- Click into 2-3 that match your strategy or sectors

Sample Data Notice
If you see a banner that says "Preview Mode: Showing sample data", you're viewing example opportunities, not live data.
What this means: You're on a free account or not logged in. Sample data shows you how the platform works but isn't actionable.
How to fix: Upgrade to Pro for access to live opportunity scores.
Sample data watermark: Large text overlay says "SAMPLE DATA" diagonally across the dashboard.
Dashboard States
Loading State
What you see: Spinner with "Loading opportunities..." text
When it shows: Initial page load or after clicking refresh
Duration: Typically 1-3 seconds
What's happening: Fetching latest scores from analytics engine
No Data State
What you see: Empty table or message "No opportunities found"
Possible causes:
- Market closed and no new filings
- Filters too restrictive
- System maintenance
- Network error
What to do: Try refreshing, check filters, or wait for market hours
Error State
What you see: Red error banner with message
Common errors:
- "Failed to fetch opportunities" → Network issue, try refresh
- "Upgrade Required" → Need Pro subscription for this feature
- "Session expired" → Log in again
What to do: Follow error message instructions or contact support

Common Questions
Q: Why did an opportunity disappear from my dashboard?
A: Opportunities can drop below our quality thresholds if:
- Score fell below minimum (confidence dropped, drivers weakened)
- Statistical significance failed after new data
- Pattern no longer meets our filters
This is normal - patterns emerge and fade as market conditions change.
Q: Why do some opportunities show "N/A" for certain fields?
A: Missing data can occur if:
- New listing with insufficient historical data
- Sector classification not yet assigned
- Temporary data provider issue
Skip these until data is complete.
Q: Can I see historical scores for an opportunity?
A: Currently, the dashboard shows current scores only. Historical tracking is on the roadmap.
Q: How often do opportunities change?
A: Continuously. New SEC filings, insider trades, and price action trigger recalculations throughout the day.
Q: What's the maximum number of opportunities shown?
A: No hard limit. You'll see all stocks that meet our quality thresholds. Typically 50-200 opportunities on any given day.
Q: Why is my favorite score going down?
A: Scores decrease when:
- Drivers weaken (correlations decline)
- New data contradicts the pattern
- Pattern becomes less statistically significant
- Market conditions shift
This is valuable information - the pattern may be breaking down.
